ABSTRACT
To examine national trends in unhealthy lifestyle factors among adults with cardiovascular disease (CVD) the United States (US) between 1999 and 2018.We analyzed data from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), a nationally representative survey of participants CVD who were aged ≥20 years, which was conducted 2000 2017-2018. defined as self-report congestive heart failure, coronary disease, angina, attack, or stroke. The prevalence rate each factor calculated for 2-year cycle surveys. Regression analyses used to assess impact sociodemographic characteristics (age, sex, race/ethnicity, family income, education level, marital status, employment status).The final sample included 5610 NHANES respondents CVD. their current smoking status remained stable During same period, there decreasing trend age-adjusted poor diet [primary American Heart Association (AHA) score <20; 47.5% (37.9%-57.0%) 37.5% (25.7%-49.3%), p < 0.01]. Physical inactivity marginally increased before decreasing, no statistical significance. sedentary behavior 2007 2014 but subsequently returned its original level 2018 obesity 32% (27.2%-36.8%) 1999-2000 47.9% (39.9%-55.8%) 2017-2018 (p 0.001). depression 7% (4.2%-9.9%) 13.9% (10.2%-17.6%) = 0.056). Trends mean similar after adjustment age. We found that had low income levels at higher risk being exposed (i.e., smoking, diet, physical inactivity) than those high levels.There is significant reduction US 2018, while showed increasing over this period. behavior, either an insignificant increase.
