ABSTRACT
Based on the in situ data of soil moisture-observation networks established at Maqu, Naqu, Ali, and Shiquanhe (Sq) Tibetan Plateau (TP), using five evaluation indices [Pearson correlation coefficient (R), root mean square error (RMSE), deviation (bias), standard ratio (SDV), unbiased RMSE (ubRMSE)], applicability moisture datasets [COMBINED, ACTIVE, PASSIVE, ERA5, ERA5-Land (LAND), ERA-Interim (INTERIM), CLSM, NOAH] was comprehensively evaluated. The results showed that, observation-network scale, ACTIVE exhibited best Maqu (R = 0.704, ubRMSE 0.040 m3/m3), COMBINED performed Naqu 0.803, bias 0.016 LAND displayed consistency with observations Ali 0.734, −0.035 ERA5 not only performance Sq 0.793, −0.037 m3/m3) but also good other three observation > 0.6). In a smaller-scale best, followed by ERA5. PASSIVE products had serious gaps Sq, worst western TP. conclusion, considering temporal spatial continuities, is most suitable dataset for
