ABSTRACT
Purpose To investigate the micro-vascular changes in choroidal structures patients with pre- and early-stage clinical diabetic retinopathy (DR) using wide-field Swept-Source Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (SS-OCTA). Method This observational cross-sectional study included 131 eyes of 68 subjects that were divided into healthy controls (group 1, n = 46), pre-DR 2, 43), DR 3, 42) cohorts. All participants underwent SS-OCTA examination inpatients department Ophthalmology Endocrinology, Qilu Hospital, Shandong University, Department Ophthalmology, Aier Eye Jinan, from July 11, 2021 to March 17, 2022. The vascularity index (CVI), thickness (ChT) central macular (CMT) whole area (diameter 12 mm) concentric rings different ranges (0–3, 3–6, 6–9, 9–12 recorded analyzed OCTA image. Result Compared eyes, decreases CVI ChT found pre-or DR. more significant peripheral choroid, most prominent abnormalities 9-12mm (P < 0.001). However, there was no obvious difference average CMT value. Furthermore, significantly correlated duration diabetes range 6–9 mm (Ps 0.05; Correlation coefficient -0.549, -0.395, respectively), strongest correlation 0.01; -0.597, -0.413, respectively) observed at mm. Conclusion values are lower than controls, especially In addition, capillaries susceptible early DM-induced injury area.
