ABSTRACT
The Black Sea is a vital resource with vast potential to boost the societal value of Blue Economy for its surrounding countries. Improved knowledge and enhanced infrastructure together better coordination alignment research innovation efforts are critical management deteriorated ecosystem help restore maintain resilience enable sustainable use natural resources. In 2019, Strategic Research Innovation Agenda (Black SRIA), was developed by experts, in cooperation European marine institutes organizations, support Commission. SRIA presents priorities ecosystem-based options needed healthy, sustainable, resilient Sea. Since focused on developing concrete actions under Implementation Plan (IP) contribute national blue economy strategies, structuring relevant funding mechanisms solution-oriented implementation international regional supporting co-funding mechanisms. this study, we present transnational process that has led development IP which utilized bottom-up, co-design co-creation-based approach. governance principles towards conservation unique ecosystems. address fundamental challenges region, promote economy, also build systems innovative capacity academia, industry, policy, civil society local communities. long-lasting guide catalyze new ideas innovations community strong implications other sea basins.
