Factors Associated With HIV Preventive Behavior Among Adults in Majang Zone of Gambella Region, Southwest Ethiopia

ABSTRACT
Background HIV-positive people can spread the virus through unprotected sex; however, HIV be avoided if populations are educated about risks. In underdeveloped nations, evidence suggests that ABC method for prevention is quite effective. As a result, goal of this study was to determine magnitude behavior among adults in Majang zone Southwest Ethiopia, as well factors influence it. Methods A community-based cross-sectional carried out from March 1st May 31st, 2019. The data were collected face-to-face interview using modified validated questionnaire systematically selected participants. coded and entered Epidata manager version 4.0.2.101 analyzed SPSS 21. logistic regression analysis computed association crude adjusted odds ratios at 95% confidence intervals. level significance declared p -value less than 0.05. Results Of 772 interviewed, proportion who had good preventive 51.8%, CI [48.3–55.3%]. Two hundred forty (31.9%) used abstinence type followed by being faithful (16.1%) consistent condom use (7.3%). also found respondents with age group ≥27 years old (AOR = 1.56, [1.3–3.12]), marital status (being married 6.30, [4.48–11.4]), divorced/widowed 5.50, [2.60–12.4]) having knowledge methods 2.18, [1.71–4.00]) associated behavior. Conclusion Recommendation area, overall average. characteristics linked successful community included increasing age, or divorced/widowed, solid understanding approaches. policy-level multi-sectorial intervention approaches all stakeholders necessary develop short- long-term strategies address problem improve community’s quality life.
