ABSTRACT
Background: Alterations of oral microbiota are the main cause progression caries. The goal this study was to characterize in childhood caries based on single-molecule real-time sequencing. Methods: A total 21 preschoolers, aged 3-5 years old with severe early caries, and 20 age-matched, caries-free children as controls were recruited. Saliva samples collected, followed by DNA extraction, Pacbio sequencing phylogenetic analyses microbial communities. Results: 876 species derived from 13 known bacterial phyla 110 genera detected 41 using At level, 38 species, including Veillonella spp., Streptococcus Prevotella spp. Lactobacillus showed higher abundance group compared (p<0.05). core at genus levels more stable micro-ecological niche. follow-up, examinations 6 months after sample collection, development new dental observed 5 (the transitional group) among free children. Compared children, groups, which abundant group, exhibited a relatively low both We conclude that Abiotrophia Neisseria essential for maintaining healthy ecosystem. Dialister Filifactor may be related pathogenesis
