ABSTRACT
Stump syndrome refers to cerebral ischaemic symptoms caused by an embolus from a previously occluded ipsilateral artery that occludes down-stream artery. It can be divided into two types: carotid stump and vertebral (VASS). At present, there is limited clinical experience with VASS. We aimed propose more precise diagnostic standard for VASS, share our handling this condition. We retrospectively collected data of patients who were treated endovascular thrombectomy in the stroke centre First Hospital Jilin University January 2016 March 2020. After screening posterior-circulation acute stroke, we selected had occlusion intracranial context origin, as confirmed digital subtraction angiography.Eleven met inclusion criteria. Nine achieved recanalization both extracranial arteries, one patient modified thrombolysis infarction grade 3, eight 2b. Residual stenosis recanalized arteries was less than 30% all cases, while three embolism distal arteries. No dissection or subarachnoid haemorrhage occurred. Two didn't reach vascular recanalization. Among nine artery, four 90-day Rankin Scale score ≤ 3 (favourable outcome), died; As non-recanalized patients, mRS 5 died.VASS embolic Antegrade blood flow collateral vessels, mild no residual after are notable features event. Endovascular may effective treating
