Giant functional parathyroid carcinoma: a case report and literature review

ABSTRACT
Background Parathyroid carcinoma is an infrequent neoplasm of the endocrine system, constituting roughly 0.5% to 5% cases primary hyperparathyroidism. The diagnosis this condition presents a unique challenge for healthcare professionals. Case report We present case 77-year-old female patient who presented with longstanding right-sided neck tumor. Positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) scan detected substantial tumor situated at inferior border thyroid gland. A surgical procedure was conducted, resulting in total excision parathyroid confirmed through pathological investigation. At six-month follow-up, exhibited favorable post-operative outcomes no evidence recurrence. Conclusion approaches managing involve precise and removal. This provides confirmation that implementation rigorous treatment measures can yield improvement prognosis.
