ABSTRACT
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common chronic disease characterized by progressive cartilage degeneration and secondary synovial inflammation. Bergamottin (Ber) an important natural derivative of the furanocoumarin compound, extracted from foods, such as pulp grapefruits pomelos. Ber exhibits several characteristicsthat are beneficial to human health, anti-inflammation, antioxidant, anti-cancer effects. However, role in treatment OA has not been elucidated date. Therefore, present study, vitro experiments were conducted, which demonstrated that reduces secretion inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), (NO), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) under stimulation interleukin-1β (IL-1β). also reversed IL-1 β-mediated aggrecan type II collagen degradation within extracellular matrix (ECM). In addition, vivo ameliorated progression mice. It was revealed exerted its cellular effect activating Sirt1/NF-kB pathways. conclusion, study therapeutic potential context OA.
