ABSTRACT
Plant-derived compounds are renowned for their remarkable pharmacological properties, holding immense promise therapeutic interventions in human health. In this study, we aimed to assess the antimicrobial, anti-hemolytic, antioxidant, and wound healing attributes of watercress oil incorporated into Vaseline gel (OLG) compared alone. OLG was formulated through a meticulous process involving addition under agitation conditions. High-performance liquid chromatography analysis unveiled rich array phenolic compounds, including gallic acid (10.18 μg/mL), daidzein (3.46 hesperetin (3.28 μg/mL). The inhibitory zones caused by alone against spectrum pathogens, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis, Candida albicans , were measured at 25 ± 0.3, 26 0.1, 22 0.2, 24 0.1 mm, respectively. Notably, exhibited slightly larger inhibition (27 30 28 0.3 mm) same microbial strains. Furthermore, minimum concentration (MIC) E. coli faecalis lower alone, indicating enhanced efficacy. Similarly, bactericidal (MBC) notably across all tested bacteria Inhibition bacterial hemolysis, particularly K. pneumoniae significantly with treatment, showcasing reductions 19.4%, 11.6%, 6.8% 25%, 50%, 75% MIC concentrations, respectively, antioxidant activity both quantified IC50 values 2.56 3.02 μg/mL, Moreover, demonstrated efficacy assays, notable enhancements migration rate, closure, area difference control cells. light observed antibacterial, antifungal, properties OLG, formulation holds potential treating infections promoting healing.
