ABSTRACT
Background: Farmers harvest two batches fruits of Lemons ( Citrus limon L. Burm. f.) i.e., spring flowering fruit and autumn in dry-hot valley Yunnan, China. Regular lemons harvested have smooth skin. However, rough skin, which makes them less attractive to customers. Furthermore, the skin causes a reduction commodity value economical losses farmers. This is preliminary study that investigates key transcriptomic metabolomic differences peels lemon (variety Yuning no. 1) 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 days after from same trees different seasons. Results: We identified 5,792, 4,001, 3,148, 5,287 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between peel (C) (D) flowering, respectively. A total 1,193 metabolites accumulated (DAM) D C. The DEGs DAMs were enriched mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) plant hormone signaling, terpenoid biosynthesis, flavonoid, phenylalanine ribosome pathways. Predominantly, early stages, phytohormonal regulation signaling main driving force for changes surface. Changes expression associated with asymmetric cell division also an important observation. biosynthesis terpenoids was possibly reduced peels, while exclusive wall synthesis-related could be possible reason thick rough-skinned lemons. Additionally, division, number, hypocotyl growth, accumulation fatty acids, lignans coumarins- related gene expression, metabolite major observations. Conclusion: (autumn fruit) (spring matured on are due differential number regulation, randomization growth terpenoids, flavonoids, lignans, coumarins. results this increasing understanding roughness other citrus species.
