ABSTRACT
Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has resulted in an increase known risk factors for mental health problems. Mexico adopted lockdown and physical distancing as a containment strategy with potential consequences on day to life, such social isolation, loss of income loneliness that can have important terms health. Objective: We aimed examine the effect initial phases COVID-19 pandemic psychological distress, well-being perceived among Mexican-base respondents whether coping strategies would play intermediating role relation these variables. Under Existential Positive Psychology perspective, emphasis was made meaning-centered coping. Methods: A cross-sectional study conducted between April 30 June 16th 2020 604 Mexicans-base which 471 were women 132 men. Data collected by using online questionnaires. Psychological distress measured Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS-21). The Brief COPE Inventory used assess problem-focused emotion-focused strategies. also Meaning-Centered Coping (MCCS). PERMA-Profiler well-being, health, loneliness. Profiler Descriptive analyses bivariate linear regression performed association Results: 45.9% participants reported moderate extremely severe distress.
