An analysis of the trickle-down effect of supervisor knowledge hiding on subordinate knowledge hiding based on displaced aggression theory

ABSTRACT
The harm of horizontal knowledge hiding behavior (colleague–colleague) to individuals and organizations has been discussed confirmed by many studies. negative consequences top-down (supervisor–subordinate) have now emerged as a new focus research. This study aims enrich the understanding supervisor exploring its trickle-down effect mechanism. Based on displaced aggression theory in psychology, this paper analyses examines cognitive psychological process mechanism informing employee from colleagues when faced with their supervisor’s malicious behavior. Using three-stage time-lag questionnaire survey strategy, we collect 233 valid samples full-time employees representative provinces cities China, covering multiple industries. following findings are observed: (1) Supervisor subordinates (SKHS) positively affects subordinate (SKHC); (2) Revenge motivation plays mediating role; (3) Traditionality weakens influence subordinates’ revenge motivation. confirms effects behavior, extends research provides insights for organizational practice.
