The formation of health-related procrastination in patients with type-2 diabetes: a grounded theory research

ABSTRACT
Considering the adverse effects of procrastination on care and treatment patients with type-2 diabetes, examining how, why, contributing factors in this group through in-depth studies seems essential. This is a grounded theory research which 28 participants were selected by theoretical purposive sampling from their families, healthcare personnel. Data collected interviews, observations, field notes memos. The data analyzed using Corbin Strauss approach (2015) MAXQDA 2010 software. obtained classified into seven main categories. Health-related diabetes began to form when they perceived hardships self-care as concern. ominous shadow disease, prison family care, patient-related factors, health system shortfalls, sociocultural background, onslaught COVID-19 pandemic laid groundwork for abandoning self-care. Patients tried abandon adopting strategies such escaping reality self-medication procrastination. Wavering health-related was identified central category research. formation multidimensional process depending patients’ background that consists interactivity family, system, society. findings can be used design, implementation monitoring programs these patients.
