The novel manualized RELIEVE-group treatment for burdened relatives of cancer patients: a feasibility study

ABSTRACT
The experience of cancer among relatives is characterized by an increase in anxiety and depression, stress, a reduction quality life. However, there paucity psychosocial support programmes for dearth evidence-based, manualized interventions. Accordingly, the present study aims to assess acceptability, defined as participant drop-out satisfaction, feasibility, terms mental health improvement, novel psycho-educational group intervention. manual was developed on basis previous research into psychotherapy. A total 33 patients were recruited from West German Tumor Center participated five modules RELIEVE treatment which included introduction, communication skills, stress management self-care. primary outcome assessed using range measures, including (GAD-7), depression (PHQ-8), (PSQ), self-efficacy (SES), need (SCNSP&C-G), life (WGOQOL-BREF) before after completion programme. paired samples T-test employed feasibility treatment, with pre- post-scores being compared. secondary acceptance evaluated calculating rate scoring satisfaction questionnaire. high level reported participants. minimal, at only 2.86%. Following programme, significant improvements anxiety, scores, well improvement No observed self-efficacy, work social security needs, relationships domain. intervention demonstrated emotionally affected patients, addressing gap interventions that often limited scope lacked standardised manuals. This underlines importance measures are tailored specific needs patients' relatives, integrating them general healthcare system.
