Socioeconomic and Environmental Factors Associated With Increased Alcohol Purchase and Consumption in 38 Countries During the Covid-19 Pandemic

ABSTRACT
To explore changes in alcohol purchase and consumption during the first few months of Covid-19 pandemic, assess associations between increased purchase/use socioeconomic environmental factors.Secondary data from a cross-sectional online survey conducted 17 April to 25 June 2020.Thirty-eight countries all continents world.A total 37,206 adults (mean age:36.7, SD:14.8, 77% female) reporting purchasing drinking habit before pandemic.Changes stock-up frequency use pandemic were stratified by gender, age, education, household structure, working status, income loss, psychological distress, country based on per capita. The stock-up/use living with children, home, loss distress examined using multivariate logistic regression, controlling for demographic factors.The majority respondents reported no change their habits early period. Increased was 20.2% respondents, while 17.6% decreased use. More than half (53.3%) experienced one five (20.7%) having severe distress. Female being aged under 50, higher educational attainment, independently associated lockdown.
