Validation of the generalized anxiety disorder scales (GAD-7 and GAD-2) in primary care settings in Latvia

ABSTRACT
Anxiety disorders are the most prevalent mental in world and have an important impact on global burden of disease. Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is encountered primary care. There no available validated screening tools care Latvia. We aimed to validate both a seven-item two-item generalized scale (GAD-7 GAD-2) Latvian Russian languages, detect settings Latvia.During 1-week period, all patients aged 18 years or older visiting their GP (general practitioners) with any health concern at 24 throughout Latvia were invited complete GAD-7 native language (Latvian Russian). Criterion validity was assessed against Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI).The study sample included 1,459 participants who completed MINI. The items showed good internal reliability [Cronbach's alpha 0.87 for version 0.85 (for Latvia) GAD-7]. A cut-off score detecting GAD 5 above estimated (sensitivity 75.4%, specificity 68.9%, respectively) 7 73.3%, 84.1%, respectively). GAD-2 lower languages (Cronbach's 0.75 0.68 GAD-2). 2 established Latvian, versions 78.9 83.3%; 63.7 69.1% GAD-2, accordingly) GAD.This first report criterion nationwide conducted level.
