ABSTRACT
Objective Psychiatric patients are particularly vulnerable to skin injuries, which can result in severe systemic complications and higher mortality rates. Therefore, improving wound management for ICU psychiatric through Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) is crucial. This study aims evaluate the effectiveness of FMEA enhancing settings, with a focus on identifying key risk factors implementing targeted interventions mitigate complications. Methods A real-world was conducted Fourth People’s Hospital Nantong, China, involving 615 admitted between October 2022 2024. Patients were divided into two groups: control group received traditional care, while observation managed using FMEA-based strategies. Key evaluated prioritize interventions, Logistic regression analysis used assess relationship various complications, helping identify significant predictors adverse events. Results implementation led reduction from 7.56% 3.59% ( χ 2 = 4.69, p 0.03). identified factors, including positioning management, hygiene, nutritional support, corresponding Risk Priority Numbers (RPN) calculated each factor. revealed that significantly associated reduced (coefficients -1.44, 0.01). Additionally, such as ADL, hypoalbuminemia, diabetes, length stay found influence (p < Conclusion an effective tool practices reducing patients. Early identification personalized care protocols improve patient outcomes safety.
