Diagnosis and Treatment of Hypertension Among People Aged 45 Years and Over in India: A Sub-national Analysis of the Variation in Performance of Indian States

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the single largest contributor to non-communicable (NCD) deaths, with hypertension contributing a significant proportion of these deaths. This study aims provide estimates prevalence, awareness, treatment and control at sub-national levels in India identifies well under-performing states respect diagnosis hypertension. Methods: The utilises data from Longitudinal Study Ageing (LASI), nationally representative survey more than 72,000 individuals. Age-sex adjusted prevalence rates self-reported was calculated using direct standardisation method. Multivariable logistic regression performed assess association various individual co-morbidity, lifestyle, household factors.
