Exploring the epidemiology of suicide attempts: Risk modeling in Kermanshah—Iran

ABSTRACT
Background Suicide attempt is a serious global public health issue. The patterns of suicide may vary depending on the individual characteristics, methods, causes, and geographical area-also socio-cultural context that determine it. This study identifies spatial attempts in Kermanshah province, Iran. Method sample size this cross-sectional 18,331 people (7234 males 11097 females) who attempted province between 2006 2014. Data was collected from records patients referred to emergency department hospitals analyzed using tests Mean Center, Standard Distance, Average Nearest Neighbor. Results results mean center standard distance show drug overdose, poisoning with toxins pesticides, chemicals mostly were used central areas province. by self-immolation, hanging firearms western parts while narcotic concentrated eastern regions Out cases, 74% 13% 0.59% chemicals, 4% fire, 1% hanging, 0.16% 0.7% cold weapons. pattern all clustered (Z-score < −2.58). Conclusion methods Therefore, it suggested planning tailored location can reduce Kermanshah.
