Why and where?—Delay in Tuberculosis care cascade: A cross-sectional assessment in two Indian states, Jharkhand, Gujarat

ABSTRACT
Tuberculosis (TB) is the second leading cause of death due to infectious diseases globally, and delay in TB care cascade reported as one major challenges achieving goals control programs. The main aim this study was investigate responsible factors for various phases among patients two Indian states, Jharkhand Gujarat. This cross-sectional conducted 990 from selected tuberculosis units (TUs) states. adopted a mixed-method approach data collection. targeted diverse profile patients, such drug-sensitive (DSTB), drug resistance (DRTB), pediatric TB, extra-pulmonary TB. It included both public private sector patients. findings suggested that about 41% pulmonary 51% total delay. Delay initial formal consultation most common, followed by diagnosis treatment initiation While first consultation. DR-TB are more prone Addiction, co-morbidity awareness regarding monetary benefits available contribute significantly There were system-side like inadequacy active case findings, poor infrastructure, improper adverse reaction management follow-up, resulting delays different phases. Thus, multi-disciplinary strategies covering gambit system demand side attributes recommended minimize cascade.
