Reliable and highly specific techniques for the detection of Brucella spp. antibodies in camel milk

Brucellosis is one of the most serious zoonotic diseases in human and farm animals caused by Brucella species. This study aims to: (i) estimate current prevalence among camels Erbil Governorate; (ii) evaluate milk ring test as a diagnostic tool for screening brucellosis camels; (iii) association between months percentage positive samples to Brucella. During period, January - June 2021, total 250 raw camel (130 from farms 120 sale points) were randomly collected. The diagnosed using Milk Ring Test (MRT), indirect ELISA, bacteriological isolation antibodies 11.6% 10.4% according MRT respectively. overall species 8.4%. detection rate isolates points higher 10.0% than 6.9%. results also reveal that 4.6% 5.8% are abortus; while, 4.2% melitensis points, highest observed February 18.6%, while lowest documented May 7.5%. We recommend diagnosis spp. routine collection centers, dairy factories, farm. Customers recommended heat adequately eliminate this milk-borne pathogen before drinking or manufacturing processes.
