ABSTRACT
The oil obtained from the seeds of Nigella sativa L. (N. sativa), also known as black cumin, is frequently used in Mediterranean area for its anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-cancer activities. aim present study was to evaluate antioxidant anti-inflammatory properties extracted a N. cultivar produced Marche region Italy, determine if thymoquinone content, properties, biological activity would decay during storage. Cytotoxicity were tested an vitro model low-grade inflammation Simpson⁻Golabi⁻Behmel syndrome human pre-adipocytes. fresh (FEO) contained 33% more than stored (SEO), demonstrating that storage affects overall quality. In addition, content higher compared with other oils Middle East regions. Pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., Interleukin (IL)-1alpha, IL-1beta, IL-6) differently modulated by extracts oils: FEO, containing reduced IL-6 levels significantly, while SEO inhibited IL-1beta had activity. Total activity, reported µM Trolox, 11.273 ± 0.935 6.103 0.446 FEO (p = 1.255 × 10-7), respectively, mean values 9.895 0.817 (SEO) 4.727 0.324 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate (DPPH) assay 2.891 10-14). conclusion, capacity counteract proinflammatory cytokine production does not strictly depend on but components oil.
