ABSTRACT
Conventional soliton (CS) and noise-like pulse (NLP) are two different kinds of regimes in ultrafast fiber lasers, which have many intense applications. In this article, we experimentally demonstrate that the regime an Er-doped laser could be converted between conventional by using fast response saturable absorbers (SA) made from layers single-wall carbon nanotubes (CNT). For monolayer (ML) CNT-SA, CS with duration 439 fs at 1560 nm is achieved while for bilayer (BL) CNT, NLP a 1.75 ps spike 98 pedestal obtained. The transition mechanism to investigated analyzing optical characteristics ML BL CNT. further theoretical simulation illustrates CNT-SA enables switching anomalous dispersion lasers.
