ABSTRACT
The accurate extraction of a coastline is necessary for various studies coastal processes, as well the management and protection areas. Very high-resolution satellite imagery has great potential extraction; however, noises in spectral data can cause significant errors. Here, we present newly developed Coastal Extraction Tool (CET) that overcomes such errors allows time-efficient automated based on combination WorldView-2 (WV-2) multispectral stereo-pair-derived digital surface model (DSM). Coastline performed tested Iž-Rava island group, situated within Northern Dalmatian archipelago (Croatia). Extracted coastlines were compared to (a) extracted from state topographic map (1:25,000), (b) by another available tool. accuracy was validated with centimeter reference acquired using UAV system (Matrice 600 Pro + MicaSense RedEdge-MX). Within study area, two small islets detected have not been mapped during earlier mapping efforts. CET proved be highly technique successfully spectral-induced In future research, are planning integrate obtained UAVs infrared thermography (IRT) situ sensors, measuring sea land temperatures (SST LST), into CET, given this shown promising results. Considering its ease use, suggest applied other large indented Additionally, could longitudinal geomorphological erosion detection spatio-temporal displacement.
