ABSTRACT
A structural landform is defined by its surface morphology, controlled tectonics, lithology (arrangement and resistance), folded structures, demonstrated the characteristics relationships between geological geomorphic elements. It very important to use geographic information system (GIS) technology accurately describe express elements of landforms their relationships. In this study, a GIS approach for expressing landforms, based on “forms–elements–relationships”, was developed. The contributions paper are as follows: (1) Combined with morphological characteristics, were abstracted into elements, these analyzed. (2) spatial objects topological designed types developed definition morphotype. (3) markup language (SLML) method “forms–elements–relationships” created. (4) Two typical namely, Qixia Mountain Gaoli Mountain, used examples verify feasibility effectiveness landforms. This describes expresses from perspective GIS, which expected promote joint development geomorphology GIS.
