ABSTRACT
This study investigates the physical, mechanical, and structural characteristics of handmade paper samples derived from cellulose extracted grass clippings using two distinct methods as follows: (1) alkali treatment (2) followed by bleaching, coupled with incorporation barium sulfate a mineral filler. Our investigation revealed that samples’ densities, moisture contents, thicknesses varied within ranges 0.436 to 0.549 g/cm3, 5.60 2.51%, 0.41 0.50 mm, respectively. The tensile strength folding endurance papers produced through were notably superior those bleached pulp sulfate. analysis indicates several critical factors, including density, thickness, crystallinity index, microfibrillar structure cellulose, intricately influence mechanical properties samples. Using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques, we identified characteristic bonds examined cellulose’s crystalline amorphous phases. Additionally, index was determined both Segal peak deconvolution methods. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs interconnected networks fibers varying lengths, along incorporated filler fiber structure. Variations in particle retention attributed presence or absence microfibrils. These findings contribute our understanding observed underscore potential applications clippings, especially when combined production.
