ABSTRACT
Background: brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) may play a role during neurorehabilitation following ischemic stroke. This study aimed to elucidate the possible of BDNF early recovery from stroke assisted by motor training. Methods: fifty patients were included after acute stroke: 21 first received classical rehabilitation followed ‘motor using motion sensors and augmented reality’ (AR-rehabilitation), 14 only AR-rehabilitation, 15 observed. Serum levels measured on day stroke, 14th day, before AR-based (median, 45th day), 82nd day). Motor impairment was quantified clinically Fugl–Meyer scale (FMA); functional disability activities daily living (ADL) Modified Rankin Scale (mRS). For comparison, serum in 50 healthy individuals. Results: found significantly increase phase with rehabilitation. The pattern sequentially similar treated patients. Untreated had lower at endpoint. Conclusions: fluctuations are not consistently related improvement but seem react active treatment. Without treatment, tends decrease.
