ABSTRACT
It is essential to find new biomarkers for severity stratification of patients with coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15) upregulated in pathological conditions that involve inflammation and/or oxidative stress. We determined circulating levels GDF-15 and correlated them clinical laboratory parameters reflecting 84 COVID-19, finding were higher both than 20 healthy controls poorer respiratory function. also interleukin-6, C-reactive protein, ferritin D-dimer neutrophilia lymphopenia. Of all the analysed biomarkers, showed best area under receiver operating characteristics curve identifying poor In conclusion, our data support as a biomarker associated pulmonary impairment COVID-19 so can potentially be useful stratifying cases by severity.
