ABSTRACT
The internal transport of medical goods in a hospital heavily relies on human resources that carry the materials foot. Such mode may be affected by inefficiencies, e.g., due to bottlenecks, and other logistic challenges. Thus, it benefit from use unmanned aircraft systems several aspects. scenario introduces specific criticalities for healthcare organizations densely populated areas below congested airspace, such as Milan metropolitan area. authors applied co-creation methodology design highly automated drone service delivery pharmaceuticals at San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, Italy. needs main users were identified means semi-structured interviews visualization material. Based those outcomes, was designed validated with users. It emerged gain point would increasing logistics efficiency. risks tied operations (e.g., tampering container) evaluated appropriate mitigations tamper-evident seals or mechatronic locks). information required digital system offering needed functions analyzed future development. Recent conceptual regulatory advancements field Urban Air Mobility (UAM) Europe elaborated outline ecosystem which aviation non-aviation actors exchange ensure operations’ efficiency, safety compliance.
