ABSTRACT
The Internet of Things (IoT) architecture is quickly becoming popular even outside its originating scenario home automation. This paper reports the design, implementation, and performance an IoT hardware software conceived for continuous monitoring livestock located in barns during grazing. We have adopted LoRa low power wide area network (LPWAN) technology to cover diverse environments, a suitable configuration web services perform data storage, analysis, visualization. Since LPWAN (LoRaWAN) medium access control (MAC) layer does not provide listen-before-talk (LBT) mechanism, we propose custom MAC with LBT-based carrier-sense multiple collision avoidance (CSMA/CA). devised system has been implemented using off-the-shelf hardware, also estimated help C++ event-based simulator. preliminary results our HW implementation on field confirm stability reliability.
