ABSTRACT
The influence of water on the mechanical properties rocks has been observed by many researchers in rock engineering and laboratory tests, especially for sedimentary rocks. In order to investigate effect saturation low-permeability rocks, uniaxial compression tests were conducted siltstone with different contents. effects strength, elastic moduli, crack initiation damage thresholds levels. It was found that 10% level caused more than half reductions properties. A new approach is proposed analyze stress-strain relations at stages dividing axial lateral curves into five equal stress zones, where zones 1–5 refer 0%–20%, 20%–40%, 40%–60%, 60%–80% 80%–100% peak stress, respectively. Stress zone 2 represents range better 3 which stress. normalized obtained from acoustic emission activities averaged 31.5% 83% strength Pore pressure inferred take part deformation samples, full change failure pattern multi-fracturing single shear increase also observed.
