ABSTRACT
The diameter at breast height (DBH) and location of trees are important factors when surveying forest resources ecological functions. In this study, a device mainly comprising self-made DBH-measuring instrument positioning base station was used. hardware consisted two devices to simultaneously measure the DBH within sample plot. Specifically, is acquired by processing angle data with an algorithm, locations obtained five-sided ranging algorithm based on received signal strength indicator ultra-wideband (UWB) sensor. Data uploading, storage analysis performed upper computer. used for actual measurement eight 24 m × square plots. measurements essentially consistent those tape calliper, biases −0.03 cm −0.29 cm, respectively. Compared compass measurement, had mean range bias 25.41 overall along X-axis 2.40 Y-axis 1.99 cm. Therefore, considered be sufficiently portable practical can reduce heavy workload surveyors meet requirements accurate smart in resource surveys.
