Alcohol Consumption and Behavioral Consequences in Romanian Medical University Students

ABSTRACT
Alcohol consumption is a major public health problem facing universities. The objectives of the present study were to investigate alcohol and behaviors associated with it among Romanian university medical students, particular reference sex differences, behavioral consequences, lifestyle patterns. We performed cross-sectional on 722 students (60.4% females; 39.6% males); participants filled out validated questionnaire containing following items co-occurring consumption: smoking, illicit drug use, energy drink consumption, other drinking consequences. Physical activity was estimated using IPAQ questionnaire. statistically analyzed interrelation between target factors. showed high percentage at-risk drinkers male (15.0%) female (14.9%) in studied group. Male reported higher use physical than but drinkers’ group consumed more drugs low-risk drinkers. Both engaged risky correlated (e.g., low academic performance, driving car after drinking). Public policies, strategies, interventions should be initiated reduce students.
