ABSTRACT
The Research Engagement Survey Tool (REST) examines the level of partner engagement in research studies. This study used mixed methods, including web-based surveys (N = 336), a modified Delphi process 18), and cognitive response interviews 16), with convenience sampling to develop validate short version REST. We conducted factor analysis calculated internal consistency for condensed validated REST against comprehensive All analyses were carried out on two scales (quality quantity) based Likert-type options. examined convergent validity other measures theoretically associated (e.g., Community Index Partnership Self-Assessment Tool). produced 9-item loads 1 factor, has high (Cronbach's alpha 0.92 quantity scale; 0.94 quality scale), is significantly correlated (ρ 0.97; p < 0.001 both scales) (32-item) REST, negligible, low, moderate correlation Assessment In community-based Research, trust medical researchers, Coalition Survey). Use will reduce participant burden time complete. standardized quantitative measure useful compare across projects or within project over time.
