ABSTRACT
Medical care for geriatric patients is a great challenge, mainly due to various overlapping deficits relevant numerous coexisting diseases, of which the most common are diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis. In case diabetes, glycation process intensified, accelerates atherosclerosis development diabetic complications. Our goal was investigate relationship between classical biochemical parameters atherosclerosis, as well may indicate nephropathy, strictly related glycation, taking into account pharmacological treatment patients. Methods: We analyzed patients' serum concentrations fluorescent product-pentosidine, soluble receptors advanced products (sRAGE), lipoprotein receptor-1 (LOX-1), galectin 3 (GAL3), scavenger receptor class A (SR-A), B (SR-BI), level lipid peroxidation free amine content. Among identified correlations, interesting following: sRAGE with triglycerides (r = 0.47, p 0.009), SR-BI 0.013), LOX-1 0.31, HDL -0.30, 0.02). It has been shown that pentosidine reactive contents significantly higher in elderly ischemic heart disease. Pentosidine also arterial hypertension. Malondialdehyde turned out be type 2 not treated insulin or metformin than those both medications (p 0.052). GAL3 found lower persons without diabetics 0.005). insulin, lowest metformin, effect reducing levels 0.039). results were basis discussion about diagnostic value clinical practice provide grounds inferring therapeutic benefits treatment.
