The objective of this study was to check whether environmental regulation (ER) can affect GTFP through the mediating role foreign direct investment (FDI) quantity and quality. Using super-efficiency Epsilon-based measure (EBM) model a Malmquist–Luenberger (ML) index, China’s growth measured during 1998–2018. On basis, we adopted Systematic Generalized Method Moments (SYS-GMM) analyze effect ER on GTFP. findings show that declined first rose again sample period. in coastland greater than inland region. positively affected growth. FDI quality mediated nexus between whole nation. Specifically, mediation only significant coastal China. Additionally, financial development also boost Given importance developing economy, government should improve attract FDI.
