Qualitative Protocol of Chinese Parents and Siblings Experiences of Managing Challenging Behaviours of Adult Persons with Intellectual Disability in Hong Kong and Northern China

ABSTRACT
Background: While the literature has highlighted immense challenges in caring for family members, it is still unclear what needs of carers persons with intellectual disability and challenging behaviours are worked them. This study aims to examine 60 parents’ siblings’ experiences managing their adult member whilst living at home. Methods: A qualitative grounded theory approach using semi-structured interviews will be adopted. Purposive sampling used recruit who live use one community service Hong Kong. Three special schools from northern China approached. Results: aim provide an in-depth understanding compare different circumstances they face when relatives Conclusions: Although this targets adults disability, findings a point reference adolescents younger exhibit demanding families. Recommendations can guide development appropriate strategies strengthen services carers.
