ABSTRACT
Electrocatalytic urea synthesis from CO2 and nitrogenous substances represents an essential advance for the chemical industry, enabling efficient utilization of resources promoting sustainable development. However, development electrocatalytic has been severely limited by weak chemisorption, poor activation difficulties in C-N coupling reactions. In this review, catalysts corresponding reaction mechanisms emerging fields bimetallic catalysts, MXenes, frustrated Lewis acid-base pairs heterostructures are summarized terms two central molecule-catalyst interactions as well bond cleavage directional coupling, which provide new perspectives improving efficiency urea. This review provides valuable insights to elucidate potential mechanisms.
