ABSTRACT
This paper deals with the design of five-phase permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) exploiting third harmonic for torque generation. Through optimization stator size and rotor structure, objective functions related to mass electric losses are minimized a targeted electromagnetic power (10 kW 400 rpm) given volume. The study takes into account saturation, thermal, electrical mechanical constraints. On that note, 1D analytical magnetic model, considering existence use harmonic, is presented. then shows how 3 can improve machine’s performance. It will be shown that, torque, taking in sizing process leads reduction reach 20% go up 21%. A finite element analysis model PMSM established order verify results validate them.
