ABSTRACT
Our purpose is to demonstrate the changes in cornea nerve parameters and symptoms signs dry eye disease (DED) patients after oral vitamin B1 mecobalamin treatment. In this randomized double-blind controlled trial, DED were randomly assigned either treatment group (oral mecobalamin, artificial tears) or control (artificial tears). Corneal via vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM), symptoms, assessed at baseline 1 3 months post-treatment. total, 398 eyes from 199 included. group, there significant improvements corneal length, width, neuromas, sign of conjunctival congestion score (CCS), dryness, pain, photophobia, blurred vision, total symptom score, OSDI (OSDI) 1/3 post-treatment (all p < 0.05). Patients who received showed greater improvement CCS, dryness scores month (p 0.05), fluorescein staining (CFS) = 0.012), photophobia 0.032), 0.041), 0.029) months. Greater continuous CFS 0.045), 0.033), vision 0.031) 0.023) was demonstrated than group. We found that can improve reflectivity number neuromas IVCM, thereby repairing epithelial cells alleviating some ocular symptoms. Thus, are potential options for with DED.
