ABSTRACT
Nowadays, conventional agriculture farms lack high-level automated management due to the limited number of installed sensor nodes and measuring devices. Recent progress Internet Things (IoT) technologies will play an essential role in future smart farming by enabling operations with minimum human intervention. The main objective this work is design implement a flexible IoT-based platform for remote monitoring different scales, continuous data collection from various IoT devices (sensors, actuators, meteorological masts, drones). Such be available end-users improve decision-making training validating advanced prediction algorithms. Unlike related works that concentrate on specific applications or evaluate technical aspects layers stack, considers versatile approach at four layers: farm perception layer, sensors actuators communication application layer. proposed solutions have been designed, implemented, assessed plants, soil, environmental conditions based LoRaWAN technology. Results collected through both simulation experimental validation show can used obtain valuable analytics real-time enable decisions actions such as, example, controlling irrigation system generating alarms. contribution article relies proposing hardware software oriented Even though previous found using similar technologies, they focus stack.
