ABSTRACT
This paper presents the concept of a novel adaptable sensing solution currently being developed under EU Commission-founded PHOTONGATE project. will allow for quantification multiple analytes same or different nature (chemicals, metals, bacteria, etc.) in single test with levels sensitivity and selectivity at/or over those offered by current solutions. relies on two core technologies: biochemical technology (molecular gates), which confer specificity and, therefore, capability to be analyte interest, which, combined porous substrates, increase sensitivity, photonic based localized surface plasmonic resonance (LSPR) structures that serve as transducers light interaction. Both technologies are micron range, facilitating integration sensors within small area (mm2). The its application health diagnosis food safety sectors. It is thought an easy-to-use modular concept, consist module, mainly microfluidics cartridge house sensor, platform fluidic handling, optical interrogation, signal processing. include new fully European Union Made, avoiding fibers expensive components.
