The Use of Facility Dogs to Bridge the Justice Gap for Survivors of Sexual Offending

ABSTRACT
The current study investigated the support that a facility dog can provide to survivors of sexual crimes when undergoing video-recorded police interviews. In total, 13 offences, who were interview, provided with for interview process. For each case, data collected via interviews, observations and surveys. Using multiple case approach, qualitative analysed identify patterns, observational survey used further these outcomes. A total four main themes emerged from data: (1) change in focus survivor, (2) difference survivors’ engagement, (3) as comforter keep survivor calm (4) positive environment. Overall, findings suggest much needed beneficial service survivors, helping them feel calmer more comfortable. also environment, allowing on communicate openly about their experiences. study, therefore, presents very relating improving perspectives justice within framework kaleidoscopic justice, bridging perceived gap.
