ABSTRACT
The development of complex spatial-referencing (geomatic) tools gives rise in archaeology to information systems which result from the specific products spatial information, data structures, thematic analyses, and particular scales methods analysis. In effect, GIS allow processing archaeological organised on basis nature data, at several (an excavation, town, micro-region, region etc.). functions available these new exploitation give birth multiple maps. acquisition is facilitated by linkage geo-referencing (e.g. GPS), or topography. allows management manipulation various origins (satellite images, aerial photographs, maps environmental data-bases antique etc.) be presented its wider context. Moreover, they also provide access analysis developed geographers, permitting cross-analysis quantitative qualitative resulting applications remains : provenance materials, predictive models, analyses distance construction for referencing archaeology, different institutions, according operational scientific objectives, issue how best exploit capacities their potential as research tools. this light, difficulties implementation concerning, particular, organisation data/data structure use have created methodological needs. order address problems needs, creation ISA (Information Spatiale et Archeologie) network proposed bring together all developers/researchers users archaeology.
