ABSTRACT
This investigation deals with the litho-and biostratigraphy of Middle Miocene and Pliocene subsurface successions Nile Delta region, Egypt. Fifty planktonic foraminiferal species have been recorded from Abu Madi-1 well. The stratigraphical distribution these Foraminifera in studied well permits recognition four zones. Globorotalia mayeri Zone ; Sphaeroidinellopsis seminulina -subdehiscens, puncticulata Zones Early Globigeri-noides obliquus extremus Pliocene. These zones are correlated elsewhere world. Miocene/Pliocene boundary is found to be marked by a distinct unconformity due missing Late «evapo-ritic phase». paleoecology rock units their foraminifera interpreted.
