ABSTRACT
Image enhancement of a pre-processed and colored fingerprint with complex background patterns has high demand in appraisal evaluation forensic evidence. This paper focuses on image ninhydrin-processed fingerprints periodic-patterned backgrounds. Contrast adjustment usually does not work well for separation between backgrounds because similarity their color scales and/or superposing patterns. As alternative methods contrast adjustment, two approaches have been proposed. The first one is to transform an RGB evidence CIELAB space utilize hue so that the pixels converted sharp brightness. second approach conduct Principal Component Analysis (PCA) reconstruct PC images. effective case hue-based processing sufficient enhance fingerprints. Moreover, this method can be successful enhancing which able enhanced RGB. It also suggested complementary separated. For certain images, PCA-based achieve more than does. If some periodic remain after each approach, these removed by using frequency filtering based 2-dimensional Fast Fourier Transformation. apply and, if sufficient, then it recommended use both space.
