Nosocomial SARS-CoV-2 Infections in Japan: A Crosssectional Newspaper Database Survey

ABSTRACT
An outbreak of coronavirus disease in 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has become a pandemic. 1In Japan, increasing number patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 threatens pre-existing medical resources, and incidents group nosocomial infections institutions healthcare professionals (HCPs) are also increasing.Using largest domestic newspaper database, we summarized reported occurring throughout Japan.As done elsewhere, collected articles published from February 15, 2020 to April 6, 2020, four nationwide newspapers, two major news agencies, 53 local newspapers searching database Nikkei Telecom, 3 using Japanese keywords "shin-gata-koronauirusu" (novel coronavirus) "in-nai-kansen" (nosocomial infection) one following three keywords: "ishi" (physician), "kan-ja" (patient), "kango-shi" (nurse).Next, selected based on titles including certain keywords, namely infection') or "byo-in" (hospital), numbers cases being disclosed, as described Supplementary file 1.The overall among public living Japan was retrieved Ministry Health, Labour Welfare. 4 In initial screening process, identified 1216 articles, authors eventually 79 (6.5%) for study.The total 246 17 10 prefectures (Table 1), accounting 6.9% testing positive (n = 3569), excluding those Diamond Princess cruise ship. 5he each hospital varied
