ABSTRACT
Background: Mental health status of university students is a critical issue due to its essential role in students’ academic performance. Therefore, this study aimed evaluate the mental first-year at Hamadan University Medical Sciences 2020. Methods: All entered cross-sectional through census sampling. Two Questionnaires, Goldberg’s General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12) as screening instrument, and researcher-made questionnaire were used collect demographic information. After data collection, chi-square test logistic regression coefficient applied analyze significance level 0.05. Results: The results showed that out 875 students, 170 cases (19.4%) suffered from disorders, including depressed mood (93.5%) anxiety attack (22%) most least common respectively. Fitting model revealed highest educational degree (P<0.001, medical residency), admission quotas other than free quota (P=0.03), high (P=0.04) low (P=0.01) financial status, fathers’ unemployment increased chance disorders. Conclusion: Due rate negative consequences problems it recommended counseling centers provide services for with focus on coping more frequent Finally, suggested they have yearly follow-up surveys recognize effects environment different conducted programs status.
