ABSTRACT
Schiff bases have often been used as chelating ligands in the field of coordination chemistry, and their metal complexes extensively investigated due to potential applications. It is known that reactions N,N,O,O-donor with transition ions produced series interesting structures magnetic properties. A new complex prepared by reaction 2,2'-{propane-1,2-diyl-bis[nitrilo(E)methylidene]}bis(6-methoxyphenol) (H2L) Co(III) ion reported this paper. The bicompartmental ligand acts a tetradentate fashion. H2L structurally characterized elemental analysis, NMR infrared spectroscopies, conductance single X-ray diffraction. compound crystallizes monoclinic system space group P21/c unit cell parameters = 13.168(2) Å, b 15.795(2) c 15.882(2) α 90°, β 110.703(16)°, γ 90°. cobalt (III) has slightly distorted octahedral geometry. There also neighboring molecule DMF one perchlorate anion non coordinating.
